Off-road meeting in Rayong

A meeting of off-road enthusiasts was held at the beach near the airport of Rayong. On my bike and down to road i followed the off-roaders to the gathering.

The atmosphere was amazing relaxed. Dozens of off-road vehicles were displayed, from modern equipped to old-timers or military style Jeeps. To my surprise i found lots of Land Rover Defender and Series gathering here too. I got even the chance to sit in one at the beach for a photo.

But of course, it’s not only for show proudly their vehicles and play with them at the beach, but also to have a good time together, listen to the live bands, chatting about off-road stuff and, of course, having a good meal together.

I had a great time with those friendly people and enjoyed a lot. But see yourself…

Pattaya Waterjet World Cup 2024

At weekend the Waterjet World Cup was held on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya.

Out of curiosity i went there with my camera just to snap some vibes. However, i followed other photographs and got into the crew’s area, where waterjets got prepared and inspected. It was also a great place at the beach to spot the scenes on the races, hence the many photographers there.

It took not too long, an official approached me and explained me, only accredited photographers are allowed there. But i was sent to the media counter, where i got a free day pass as photographer and influencer. Lucky me. Unfortunately this pass was for the visitors area only.

Despite i was there for the crews and behind the scenes vibes, rather than just the race, it was interesting to watch the waterjets almost flying around the course.

Beside that, there was another challenge in ‚freestyle‘, where the competitors had to ride their waterjets in acrobatic and artistics figures.

But see yourself the impressions i got for you…

South Korea: Busan’s APEC House

„Busan is Good“ is stated at the main station. To check this statement i decided to join a day tour group with a guide to reach the bit further places too.

After the participants got collect from their hotels, a drive over the Gwangandaegyo, also known as Diamont Bridge, brought us to Haeundae District.

First highlight was the APEC house, where meetings of the ‚Asian-Pacific-Economic-Cooperation‘ are held, as the tour guide proudly explained. It is indeed a impressive building in a round shape, settled at the bay with beautiful view. From there it’s just a short, wonderful stroll along the coast to the Haeundae Beach, which i visited just the day before (check my prior post).

That stroll gave us first opportunity to learn more about the tour participants and our guide. And of course the first selfies and tourist photos are taken as well.

more are coming. stay tuned…

Busan, The South Of South Korea

Just when i arrived Busan i bought a bus ticket to the popular Haeunde Beach with it’s famous beach train. I didn’t take a ride in one of these colorful capsules, but took a walk along the train route.

Later on i took a streched beach walk among many other weekend visitors on the beach. Just to collect some more impressions from the beach life.

Start Into New Asia Trip: Jomtien, Pattaya, Bangkok

Just before i checked in my flight to Bangkok i decided not to see the hustling city but go to the nearest beach from the airport first. Since there was a direct bus link from the airport to Jomtien Beach, just next to Pattaya, it was a good decicion.

A few days on relaxing beaches, nice walks trough forest hills nearby, visiting temples and lookouts, eating at local night markets and having a beer in the street of bustling nightlife.

Bangkok with its skyscrapers, the green lush parks, but busy, noisy traffic, is a whole different story. I ended up in the famous-infamous Khao San Road, a backpacker area even long since my first visit here 30 years ago. When i went for a stroll there among the nightly, crazy party folks i thought literally: ‚New generation, same shit!‘, but enjoyed it.

Iceland: Ice Cave, Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach

From the Vatnajökull Glacier breaks icebergs into the lagoon Jökulsàrlon. That’s also the starting point for tours into ice caves. The weather wasn’t ideal at all due the rain and dark clouds. So i was missing the colors on both, the ice cave experience and on the lagoon itself too. However, there was a nice group i joined and despite i didn’t bring home the pictures i expected, it was worth the experience.

Winter In Turkey: Gelibolu/Gallipoli

Winter in Turkey impressions #17: Gelibolu, also known as Gallipoli, gained sad notoriety after a disastrous battle on WWI with many thousands killed. In the history of the many New Zealander and Australian soldiers involved it bekam known as ANZAC day.

For me was it the end of an very interesting trip trough the history of times. But before i left Turkey, i met an very nice couple riding a Honda Africa Twin. A newly wed couple, it turned out, on their trip trough their own country. After a nice chat, i handed over a sticker, which i got from an other Turkish friend and motobiker.

Güle güle ve yakında görüşürüz. Teşekkür ederim Türkiyem!

Winter In Turkey: back to south coast

Winter in Turkey impressions #12: I left the icy cold highlands and went back to south coast of Turkey for a few days relaxing in a warm weather. It was also the time for some maintenance on my Land Rover #TinaTortuga. Luckily i found a good mechanics back in Antalya.

Winter In Turkey: Kas and Demre

Winter in Turkey Impressions #5: A friend from Istanbul spent some times in Kas. I followed his invitation and he kindly showed me around in the area. One of the highlights was also the Church of Saint Nicholas from Demre, the real ‚Santa Claus‘, who was kind to children and gave them gifts.

Norway – The Lofoten (Part 1)

The very famous Lofoten belongs to the best known region of Norway.

As beautiful the landscape is, in summer saison it’s overrun with tourists. All the visitors want enjoy the fjords with crystal blue water, hiking the many peaks or just relax by a good meal or refreshing coffee along the route.

Once i’m here as a tourist myself, i gonna take a hike too, i was thinking. But it wasn’t easy to find even a free parking lot near a hiking spot. The more famous hiking routes i had to skip because of that. Eventually i found a less popular hiking path on a top of a mountain. Surprisingly few wanderer on the route. Maybe they were scarred of the steep slope, especially at the top. But it was definitely worth to stand on the peak with its breathtaking view.
